Darken Rahl raids a village where Jennsen is living, looking for the Boxes of Orden. Jennsen, pursued, throws them into a lake. When Rahl's soldiers find her, they beat her mercilessly causing her to lose her memory. As Jennsen is nursed back to health, Rahl convinces her that Richard is evil in order to obtain the location of the boxes. Meanwhile, Richard, Kahlan, and Zedd enter a camp which has been struck by a plague, created by Darken Rahl
